Physiotherapist MSK - Older Person's Health & Rehabilitation

About the Role

Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation is a division of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu ora, Waitaha (formerly CDHB) based at Burwood. The Burwood Physiotherapy Team is made up of 65 Physiotherapists and 15 Physiotherapy Assistants split into 3 teams including a Musculoskeletal , Neurology  and an Older Persons and Older Persons Mental Health team.  The MSK OP department has 13 staff and manages a largely post op or post trauma caseload. We have an amazing Hydrotherapy Pool which is utilised 7 days a week and is an excellent adjunct to treatment for your Orthopaedic caseload. Together with your colleagues you will be responsible for carrying out effective patient assessments and formulating goal-based treatment plans which facilitate improving function and safe discharges. Come and join our amazing team. Although based in Outpatients you will work some time in inpatient surgical orthopaedics and inpatient orthopaedic rehab when needed from a service perspective.

This is a part time role working 22 hours over negotiable days Monday to Friday, work hours are negotiable between 0800-1630. You will work as part of the Musculo-skeletal team based in OP and including Hydrotherapy but will get to experience the full pathway including surgical orthopaedics and ortho rehab. Full support and Orientation will be given.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out effective patient assessment, evaluation and treatments in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice
  • Formulating treatment interventions to meet individual needs in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring effective communication with other members of the physiotherapy team and wider MDT team

About You

We are seeking a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual practicing Certificate and have a minimum of 18 months experience.

Your skills will include:

  • The ability to hit the ground running with the energy and passion to deliver a high standard of care to patients
  • The ability to develop a close working relationship with physiotherapy assistants and the wider physiotherapy team
  • Flexibility and adaptability with an enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline
  • Flexibility to work in any of our rehabilitation areas depending on need in conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary teams
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth 
  • It is essential that you are a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current practicing certificate to be considered for this role
  • You will either be an existing ENABLE assessor or eligible for registration
  • You will be required to participate on the weekend roster, the amount, the day and the type of roster is negotiable
  • You must hold a full NZ drivers licence
