Physiotherapist - Specialist Mental Health Service
We have a great opportunity for a physiotherapist to work in the Specialist Mental Health Service in Waitaha, Canterbury. A part time permanent 0.6FTE position available. This role will report directly to the Clinical Leader of Physiotherapy.

This role will have a focus in our Adult Inpatient, Forensic Mental Health and Specialty Services, working alongside other allied health colleagues and medical staff to deliver high-quality and effective patient care. Ko wai koe | About You
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment in partnership with Specialist Mental Health Service consumers who have mobility, functional and developmental difficulties with their physical and mental health.
- Work collaboratively with the consumer, their whanau/family, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide quality patient-centred care.
Skills ideal for this role:
- At least two years of clinical experience working with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and falls management.
- Knowledge of neurological and respiratory conditions.
- Excellent clinical decision-making skills and use of evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational, communication and inter-personal skills.
- Use of appropriate physiotherapy interventions for each consumer.
- Experience with education and running group interventions.
- Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board with current Annual Practising Certificate is essential.
Experience working within mental health is not essential. Orientation, ongoing training, supervision, and support for working within SMHS will be provided for the successful applicant.
