Physiotherapist – Stroke

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Physiotherapist to join the team on Ward A8, which provides acute care and early rehabilitation for patients with new stroke and a wide range of vascular conditions, including post-surgical vascular patients and those with complex circulatory or limb‑related presentations.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering early, evidence-based rehabilitation and mobility support, working closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete physiotherapy assessments and deliver early rehabilitation for patients with new stroke
- Support mobility retraining and functional recovery
- Collaborate with the MDT to support safe, timely discharge planning
- Provide patient and whānau education to aid recovery and promote self-management
- Participate in stroke and vascular care pathways and contribute to service development
- Supervise and mentor rotational physiotherapists and final year physiotherapy students
- Participate in peer review and supervision structure
You will be required to contribute to the weekend and on-call rosters.
About the Team
This role is part of the Christchurch Hospital Physiotherapy team, with over 60 team members across a large range of specialities and more specifically sits within the medical specialties and neurosciences cluster, a team of approximately 20 physiotherapists. About you
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:
- 3+ years’ clinical experience, including experience in the medical respiratory setting – inpatients and/or outpatients
- Acute hospital inpatient experience
- New Zealand Registered physiotherapist with current APC
- Demonstrate an
understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o
Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way
in your role.
