Physiotherapy Assistant – winter flex
- Start Date – Immediate
- Shifts – Monday - Friday between the hours of 0800-1630
- Status – Fixed term, part time (30 hours per week) until 30/09/2026
- Location – Burwood Hospital
- Salary – Starting at $72,074 -$75,471 based on skills and experience as per PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical collective agreement

About the Role
The Physiotherapy department delivers quality, patient focused services across all specialty areas on the Burwood Hospital Campus. We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Physiotherapy Assistant with a ‘can-do’ attitude to join our busy Physiotherapy team in Older Persons Health. This is an exciting opportunity to refine your skills as a Physiotherapy Assistant and develop your career in healthcare! The position will be based in OPHR.
This is a fast-paced environment working with a team of Physiotherapists. Most care is delivered in the wards carrying out treatment plans and supervising exercise programmes as delegated by the Physiotherapist.
Tasks will include:
- Departmental duties such as cleaning/maintaining equipment and clinical spaces, checking and maintaining consumables and stock
- Delivering and set up of equipment across the hospital
- Supervision of exercise programmes in the inpatient setting including group work
- Assist with the provision and supervision of Hydrotherapy programmes
- Assist the Physiotherapist with the delivery of one-to-one rehabilitation treatment
About You
- Strong inter-personal skills and a sound communicator
- The ability to follow direction to assist in the delivery of treatment and rehabilitation plans across Older Persons Health and outpatient settings
- Basic computer skills essential
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to health
- Previous experience in a similar role with a good understanding of health is a requirement, a qualification in any health field would be an advantage
- Knowledge of safe manual handling processes
- Full NZ drivers licence
