Physiotherapy Assistant
- Permanent Part time 0.85FTE - 34 hours per week
- Hours of work are between Monday to Friday 0730/0800 -1600/1630, with participation in the weekend roster required

About the Role
The Physiotherapy department delivers quality, patient focused services across all specialty areas on the Burwood Hospital Campus. We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Physiotherapy Assistant with a ‘can-do’ attitude to join our busy Physiotherapy team in Older Persons Health.
You will be based at Burwood Hospital where you will support our Physiotherapists and other Physiotherapy assistants with a variety of tasks including:
- Departmental duties such as cleaning/maintaining equipment and clinical spaces, checking and maintaining consumables and stock
- Delivering and set up of equipment across the hospital
- Supervision of exercise programmes, including group work
- Assist the Physiotherapist with the delivery of one to one rehabilitation treatment
- Assist with the provision and supervision of Hydrotherapy programmes
Salary – $72,074 to $86, 719 - Based off the PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical collective agreement.
Tasks will include:

- Supervision

- Assist the Physiotherapist with the delivery of one to one rehabilitation treatment
- Assist with the provision and supervision of Hydrotherapy programmes
As part of this role, you may be required to provide services across several aged care facilities in Canterbury as well as Burwood Hospital and will need a full drivers licence.
This role will also include participation in the weekend roster.
About you
If you are passionate about Physiotherapy Rehabilitation and are a very good communicator, we are keen to hear from you. Previous experience with the Calderdale framework and Service accreditation would be an advantage although full training will be given.
- Strong inter-personal skills and a sound communicator
- The ability to follow direction to assist in the delivery of treatment and rehabilitation plans across Older Persons Health
- Basic computer skills essential
- Previous experience in a similar role with a good understanding of health, A qualification in any health field would be an advantage
- Knowledge of safe manual handling processes
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Full New Zealand drivers licence is essential with the ability to drive a manual car
