About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Plastic Surgeons to join our busy tertiary Plastic Surgery Service at Christchurch Hospital.

Due to a number of vacancies within our service, we have multiple employment opportunities available and welcome applications from candidates seeking:

As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, you will provide comprehensive specialist care across a broad range of plastic surgery services, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care.

Your role will include outpatient clinics, elective and acute operating, inpatient management, participation in the acute on-call roster, multidisciplinary meetings, clinical governance, teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, and opportunities to contribute to research and service development. You'll enjoy a varied workload in a tertiary referral centre with exposure to complex and interesting cases.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Christchurch Plastic Surgery Service provides comprehensive tertiary and secondary plastic surgery care to Canterbury and the wider South Island. The department delivers expertise across trauma, burns, skin cancer, reconstruction, hand surgery, breast reconstruction, paediatric plastic surgery and microsurgery, while supporting a strong teaching and research culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Vocational registration (or eligibility for vocational registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Plastic Surgery
  • A current Annual Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one
  • Broad expertise in Plastic Surgery, including trauma, burns, skin cancer, reconstructive surgery, hand surgery and acute care
  • Fellowship training appropriate for a tertiary teaching hospital, with a subspecialty interest welcomed
  • A commitment to teaching, clinical excellence, quality improvement and multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-centred approach to care.
