About the role
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
Our supportive Quality and Patient Safety Team are looking for a Policy Manager to join the team, managing and assuring the Policy Library System so there is a cohesive set of policies and procedures that meet obligations and needs within the regulations and standards.
In this key role, you will manage the Controlled Document Management System (Policy Library) to ensure our policies and procedures are cohesive, aligned with Health New Zealand national standards, and accessible to staff. You’ll work collaboratively with quality and patient safety teams, document controllers, and regional and national leaders to maintain high standards of policy provenance, alignment, and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
Assure policy is coherent and meets standard content including key performance indicators, impact assessment, implementation plan, and alignment with current best practice and legislation.

About You
You are an agile and experienced leader with the ability to navigate complexity, influence across levels, and ensure coherence and compliance across a large organisation. You combine strong analytical and policy writing skills with a practical understanding of document management systems and quality frameworks.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in policy management or governance, ideally within a health, quality, or regulatory environment.
 - Project Management experience
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience at policy writing.
 - A relevant graduate qualification.
 - Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
 - 5 + year’s experience working as a leader
 
Desirable
- Post graduate university degree preferably in the health clinical domain.
 - Knowledge of national health policy environment
 - Knowledge of national health standards
