We are seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Production Planner to join our Radiology Service. This is a pivotal role responsible for developing and optimising production planning systems that align demand and capacity, improve service delivery, and support high-quality clinical outcomes.
About the Role
As the Radiology Production Planner, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of planning methodologies, analytical systems, and reporting frameworks. You’ll play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting clinicians to maximise time spent on imaging and reporting.
Working closely with radiology teams, information services, and regional partners, you will ensure systems and processes are efficient, responsive, and aligned with service needs.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Analytics
- Develop and maintain dynamic production planning systems aligned to Radiology Service needs.
- Supporting an information-driven culture for decision making
- Design, validate, and implement high-quality reporting and analytical frameworks
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including turnaround times, waiting lists, and patient flow
- Translate data into actionable insights to support operational and clinical decision-making
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and implement improvements in planning processes and systems
- Explore and introduce new tools, including digital and web-based solutions
- Support optimisation of radiology systems (RIS, PACS, and related platforms)
- Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with radiology staff, modality leaders, and wider stakeholders
- Work closely with Decision Support, Information Services, and regional radiology partners
- Liaise with external vendors and system suppliers
- Support consistency and collaboration across regional services
Quality, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure data integrity through validation and audit processes
- Maintain compliance with organisational policies, privacy requirements, and regulatory standards
- Identify and mitigate risks within planning systems
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service reviews
Leadership & Culture
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment
- Support development of planning capability across the service
- Contribute to a culture that values equity, innovation, and continuous learning
- Demonstrate commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes
About You
Essential:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Radiology, Informatics, Analytics or similar)
- Strong analytical capability, including design and implementation of reporting systems
- Experience in demand and capacity planning or a similar analytical role
- Knowledge of radiology workflows and clinical systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data into meaningful insights
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or health-related discipline
- Experience within healthcare or radiology environments
- Experience in project or change management
- Experience leading improvement initiatives or coaching others
