Professional Development Facilitator – Allied Health, Scientific & Technical (AHST)

About the Role

As Professional Development Facilitator – AHST, you will facilitate professional development initiatives across the Allied Health, Scientific and Technical workforce in Canterbury and the West Coast. You will work collaboratively across professions to identify workforce capability needs and support the delivery of consistent, high-quality education and development opportunities.

A key focus of the role will be drawing on the expertise already within our workforce, connecting people and professions, and supporting innovative approaches to learning and development. Through this work, you will help strengthen workforce capability, encourage interprofessional collaboration and contribute to improved service delivery outcomes.

You’ll also contribute to wider workforce development initiatives, helping ensure our learning and development activities support the strategic direction and priorities of our Canterbury and West Coast services.

This position is based in Christchurch, but the role holder will be expected to work across multiple locations in Canterbury & the West Coast. We are open to discuss combining this role with a clinical or leadership role to increase overall FTE.

About You

You will have advanced experience and hold a current New Zealand Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate with an Allied Health professional body. You will bring proven experience in building high-performing teams through coaching and development, and a passion for creating an inclusive and engaging workplace where people are supported to contribute, grow, and succeed.

As a Professional Development Facilitator, you'll will promote professional development, clinical excellence and evidence-based practice across AHST, building positive relationships while working collaboratively to deliver sustainable outcomes. 

Other desirable attributes include:

  • Experience with clinical teaching/supervision, training and development of staff
  • Experience making judgements in complex situations where there is incomplete information or solutions are not obvious.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, organisational and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work independently and across disciplines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge for the NZ health sector.
  • Competence in a variety of administration and health record applications
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
