About the role

Emergency Mental Health provides 24-hour assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing serious mental health issues. The team comprises of Registered Nurse, Allied Health, Psychology and Medical professionals and is supported by a strong and dynamic multi-disciplinary leadership group. The psychologist works within Monday to Friday business hours.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Psychologist to join our team. What makes this role unique is the opportunity to shape the role of psychology within the team and share your skills in clinical interventions with colleagues. 

About You

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Undertaking mental health assessments utilising clinical interviewing, diagnostic, behavioural and appropriate profession specific assessment;
• Formulating and delivering appropriate intervention plans. Psychology within EmMHS tends to offer 1-3 sessions of input, though at times up to 6.
• Bringing a psychology lens to MDT meetings

Your skills will include:

• Excellent assessment and formulation skills and a sound knowledge of available treatment options .
• Experience with various therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT and MI.
• Proven organisational skills combined with excellent communication skills that enable you to work effectively within the team and with the various non-clinical stakeholders in this role;
• Current NZ Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate is essential;
• Clinical scope of practice is also essential for Psychologists;
• A current Full Driver’s License is required. 

In addition to general service training, specific professional development through ongoing education is supported. EmMHS works from the same building as the adult community service teams/sector bases, and there is a lot of opportunity to interact with other clinical psychologists, both informally and in a range of special interest groups and peer supervisions.
