Receptionist/Administrator | Greymouth

About the Role
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Receptionist – Administrator to join our Integrated Administration Team at Te Nīkau Hospital and Health Centre in Greymouth.
As the first point of contact for patients, whānau, staff, and healthcare providers, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of clinical and administrative services. This position provides reception and administration support across multiple services and contributes to the effective operation of the wider health system on the West Coast.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will assist with patient administration, medical records management, financial transactions, customer service, and coordinating information across a range of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional, welcoming, and responsive customer service to patients, whānau, visitors, and staff
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and in accordance with Health New Zealand policies and procedures
- Support patient administration and medical records processes
- Process patient fees and payments in line with organisational requirements
- Contribute to improving service access and patient outcomes
- Support a collaborative, inclusive, and culturally safe workplace
- Demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, compliance, and confidentiality
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 3/Profile D3 Step 1 to 3 (final placement step is dependent on skills, knowledge and experience)

About You
You are an organised and approachable administrator who enjoys helping people and thrives in a busy environment. You bring excellent communication skills, a high level of accuracy, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in administration, reception, or customer service
- Experience working in an office, healthcare, or similar environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Desirable
- Previous healthcare administration experience
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and processes
