Do you thrive in a people-facing role where no two days are the same? Burwood Health Campus is seeking a warm, reliable, and professional Receptionist to join our team and provide outstanding front-line support during evening and weekend hours. 

About the Role

As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, you’ll play a vital role in delivering a welcoming and efficient reception service. You’ll also support hospital operations through accurate patient admissions and discharges, cash handling, and administrative support — all while ensuring confidentiality and a high level of customer care.

You’ll work independently and as part of a supportive team, with guidance from the Manager of Orderly Services and in accordance with Health NZ policies.

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 2 /Profile 2

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Customer Service

  • Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house service for all visitors and staff
  • Respond to telephone and in-person enquiries with accurate and helpful information
  • Direct patients and visitors to appropriate services or departments
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming reception environment
  • Uphold patient confidentiality

Cash Handling & Financial Duties

  • Perform all cashiering duties in line with Health NZ financial policies
  • Manage receipting, banking, and petty cash transactions accurately and on time

Administrative Support

  • Complete patient admissions and discharges using the Patient Management System (SI PICS)
  • Prepare and print patient labels and documentation for Ward use
  • Coordinate room bookings, events, and transportation of specimens as needed
  • Maintain supplies of forms and stationery
  • Assist in emergency procedures and provide general administrative support across the site 

About You

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven background in administration, reception, or customer service
  • Experience with cash handling and data entry
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent computer literacy – confident using Word, Excel, and email
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Team player with maturity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
