Registered Midwife - Oromairaki within Toka Hapāi (Selwyn Health Hub)

About the Role
We have a wonderful opportunity for a Registered Midwife to join our team alongside Lead Maternity Care midwives, committed to facilitating birthing in the community.
Oromairaki is a contemporary birthing unit within the Selwyn Health Hub (Toka Hapāi) located in Rolleston. It is now a well-established 10-bed unit and has been embraced by the local community. We roster 2 midwives on every shift. There are three 8-hour shifts, 24/7.
About You
Midwives will be well supported by a committed and motivated team who promote the midwifery model of care, supporting and protecting normal childbirth by working with wāhine/women /people and their whānau in the Selwyn community.
This role requires the following:
- Registered Midwife with a current NZ practicing certificate
- Able to practise autonomously in the community including confidence with obstetric and neonatal emergencies and ability to cannulate. *Support is provided for those working towards gaining confidence.
- A passion for primary birthing and supporting women to initiate breastfeeding
- A commitment to equity and our responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi within maternity services
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
