Registered Nurse – Acute Orthopaedics


  • Ward A4, Waipapa Building, Christchurch Hospital Campus
  • 0.8FTE (32 hours per week)
  • Fixed-term position until February 2027 due to parental leave
  • Shifts – Monday to Sunday, Morning, Afternoon and Nights

About the Role

Dealing with acute orthopaedic injuries, orthopaedic trauma and other orthopaedics diagnoses, Ward A4 offers an exciting and challenging multidisciplinary (MDT) environment and will provide you with an excellent opportunity to extend your surgical nursing knowledge and skills. Our cohesive MDT team includes a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist to help support and develop our valued nursing staff to ensure you obtain all the opportunities orthopaedic nursing has to offer.

About the Service

Ward A4 is an Acute Orthopaedic and Spinal ward with an eye for excellence in nursing care. It has one of two acute orthopaedic wards based at Christchurch Hospital it has 32 beds and includes a dedicated 8 bed Progressive Care Unit.

Ward A4 is also a Dedicated Education Unit where you’ll enjoy being involved in the development of student nurses. 

About You

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have excellent communication skills and a passion for orthopaedic nursing. Join us and you will have the opportunity to be working as part of a team of experienced health professionals, who work together to provide a consistently high standard of care for our patients. 

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Solution focused, adaptable, self-motivated with the ability to think on your feet
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
