Registered Nurse - Acute Stroke and Vascular Surgery

About the Role
We are looking for energetic Registered Nurses who are eager
to strengthen and develop their skills in our specialty areas, working in this
mixed medical and surgical ward with the best views across Christchurch. You
will be well supported by the Senior Nursing team which comprises of a Charge
Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, and Stroke and Vascular Clinical Nurse
Specialists.
We have fixed-term positions available until July and August 2026 covering parental leave.
We are considering applicants looking for part-time and full-time hours from 0.6FTE (24hours per week) to 1.0FTE (40 hours per week).

About the Service
Ward A8 is a unique ward accommodating both the Acute Stroke Unit and Vascular Surgery specialties. We are a passionate and dynamic team who support a diverse patient group, as well as each other.
Additionally to the 24 inpatient ward beds there are 4 progressive care beds which provide intermediate level nursing for both hyperacute stroke and vascular patients.
We have a wide range of complex patient presentations which includes acute and elective, medical and surgical, local and wider South Island.
Ward A8 is a great environment to enhance your clinical expertise in a wide range of clinical skills or maybe a place to find your particular area of passion in nursing.
About You

We are looking for Registered Nurses with:
- Advanced critical thinking with exceptional medical/surgical patient assessment
- Ability to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Previous specialty experience preferred however experience working in other acute specialties will be considered.
- Experience in wound management and high acuity nursing desirable
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
