About the Role

The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department is a busy department caring for patients with pre and post arranged elective orthopaedic surgery.

We are looking for a passionate energetic Registered Nurse preferably with orthopaedic experience who is willing to work towards or has completed the “Health Assessment of the Adult” paper as this is required to complete nurse led admissions.  We would also highly favour plastering experience to work in our busy orthopaedic outpatient department.

We will provide a comprehensive orientation package in a supportive environment. Professional development is supported, and you will have the opportunity to attend trainings.

About the Service

The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department is based at Burwood Hospital. We care for patients aged from 15 years and above primarily focusing on the pre and post arranged elective orthopaedic surgery pathway.  No day will be the same with a variety of tasks including nurse led preadmissions, post-operative clinics, wound management, casting, splinting, and patient education.

Shifts are rostered across Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5:30pm. 

About you

You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure within a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Orthopaedic experience is preferable.
  • Have or working towards “Health Assessment of the Adult” paper.
  • Plaster skills is very desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in an inclusive team environment.
  • A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families.
  • A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
