Registered Nurse - Cardiothoracic and Cardiology
- Ward 10, Christchurch Hospital

- Shifts – Monday to Sunday, Morning, Afternoon and Nights

About the Role
The Registered Nurses on Ward 10 are involved in pre and post-operative care of
the cardiothoracic patient, acute pain management with chest traumas, and rib
fixation surgery. We also are involved in the care of acute and elective
cardiology patients who present with chest pain requiring cath lab procedures,
TAVI’s, electrophysiology procedures, and heart failure management.
You will be well supported through our Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialists due to our wide variety of both medical and surgical skill sets.
We have two fixed-term positions available. Please indicate in your cover letter which roles you would like to be considered for.
Role 1: 1.0FTE (40 hours per week) until 11/03/2027 due to parental leave
Role 2: 0.5FTE (20 hours per week) until 24/11/2026 due to secondment.
About the Service
Ward 10 is a 27-bed ward and is one of our combined medical and surgical
wards which specialises in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology. We care for
patients who have undergone either acute or elective cardiothoracic surgery,
and cardiology procedures.
About You
- Experience in Cardiothoracic or Cardiology is essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
- Registered with the
Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising
Certificate (APC)
