Registered Nurse - Clinical Services Unit

About the role

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurses with mental health experience for a fixed term 0.4 FTE role within the Clinical Services Unit at Hillmorton Hospital to work within the service coordinating, providing assessments and specific medical services to consumers.  A methodical, organised approach, exceptional interpersonal skills, being able to work under pressure alongside the ability to work collaboratively within a small but highly motivated team is required.

In addition to an extensive physical health knowledge the following skills are required

Undertaking wound assessment and dressing, referral to and communication  with Mental Health Services staff and other health care providers as required.

  • Provision of effective phlebotomy service for the Mental Health consumers, current venepuncture endorsement is a requirement
  • Assist in the safe provision of ECT.
  • Undertaking ECGs for Mental Health Services inpatients and outpatients.
  • Provision of a vaccination service for staff and consumers.
  • Have a current CPR certificate 

This role will require you to work Thursday and Friday, day shift.

About You

This position requires a background in mental health, working as a Registered Nurse Nurse, and the ability to work both autonomously, and alongside the multidisciplinary teams you will be working with. Skills and experience

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope;
  • Previous Mental Health scope and experience is preferred;
  • Nurses with the right skills and attitude who do not have mental health experience but have mental health scope, would be considered on a case by case basis;
  • Excellent communication and time management skills;
  • Confident and resilient;
  • Strong focus on relationship-building;
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
