Registered Nurse – Elective Surgery

About the Service
Ward A5 is a busy general surgical unit with a focus on elective surgery including colorectal, hepatobiliary and bariatric surgery. No two days are the same in this fast-paced team that focuses on peri-operative care and recovery. Ward A5 is also a Dedicated Education Unit where you’ll enjoy being involved in the development of student nurses.
About the Role
We’re looking for Registered Nurses to join us who are passionate about surgery and are keen to move their career forward. Working in our large multidisciplinary team you can expect to work closely with and learn from our Surgeons, Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, who are focused on advances in surgical care that improve clinical outcomes. In turn you will bring your exceptional interpersonal skills and organizational skills and will be a real team player.
The service is rostered on a rotating roster Monday to Sunday across Morning, Afternoons and Nights.
We have three fixed-term positions available due to parental leave.
1 x 0.9FTE available until September 2026.
1 x 0.9FTE available until October 2026.
1 x 1.0FTE available until October 2026.

About You
You will have effective problem solving and decision-making skills and a commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of nursing practice within our service.
- Acute and elective surgical experience
- Must be able to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights across Monday to Sunday
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Motivated, with a mature attitude and organised approach, you will be flexible and adaptable in this ever changing, fast paced environment
- The ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team
- A current New Zealand annual practicing certificate is required
