About the role
Emergency Mental Health provides 24-hour assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing serious mental health issues. The team comprises of Registered Nurse, Allied Health, Psychology and Medical professionals and is supported by a strong and dynamic multi-disciplinary leadership group.
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic registered nurses to join our team.
In this role you will:
Provide timely mental health assessments, crisis interventions and short-term intensive treatment
Work collaboratively with service users, whanau/families, and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care
Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment where no
two days are the same
Skills and Experience
Registered Nurse with current APC and mental health scope
Have a full New Zealand driver’s license
Experience in mental health settings preferred (ideally in crisis or acute areas). However, support and education will be provided for the right candidate
Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention and de-escalation
Able to remain calm, compassionate and solution focused under pressure
A strong communicator who thrives in a team but can also work autonomously
Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Ideally you will be a Duly Authorised Officer who has been trained and signed off as being able facilitate the MHA, if not currently a DAO applicants for this position will be willing to undertake this paid three day DAO training as provided by the Waitaha Canterbury.
