About the Service

The Parkside Ground Medical (PGM) Ward based at Christchurch Hospital consists of 33 beds.
We provide patient care for a wide variety of general medical conditions, along with an element of acute care to patients, including patients from ICU with complex needs, requiring Aivo administration skills, taking bloods and inserting leurs, through to cardiovascular needs to ensure you maintain your cardiac skills. We also provide care for covid patients with new highly technical ‘state of the art’ filtered ventilation and 12 fresh air exchanges every hour for our COVID patients, PGM is one of the safest places to work across the hospital.

About you

You will be an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about all aspects of general medicine, with experience preferably in an acute medical ware setting, and whom can work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and improved patient outcomes are attained.

You’ll also have a good sense of humour, a real desire to learn and a key understanding of the importance to respect and acknowledge the social needs and backgrounds of patients and their families/Whanau.

  • Acute Medical experience is desirable
  • Advanced critical thinking with exceptional patient assessment skills and knowledge 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of people
  • Confident and passionate for quality nursing care
  • Strong time management, initiative and tenacity
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work rostered shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
