Registered Nurse - Haematology B6 Day Stay

• Ward B6 Day Stay , Waipapa Hospital, Christchurch Health Campus
• 0.5FTE (20 hours per week) Permanent position
• Shifts - Monday to Friday between 7:30am – 6pm

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the team in the Haematology Day Stay.

This fast-paced challenging environment will offer you variety in your day.

You will be responsible for; looking after a cohort of patients with a haematological diagnosis having treatments including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, infusions of various blood products and supporting the patients with diagnostic treatments.

Shifts offered are between Monday and Friday, start times of 7:30am, 8:30am, and 9:30am.

About the Service

The Haematology Day Unit specializes in the care and support of patients with a hematological diagnosis. The unit is primarily an infusion center  but also provides pre and post care for patients who are having procedures relating to their disease.

About You

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with great assessment skills, time management and communication.

Haematology or Oncology experience would be an advantage however the successful candidate will be supported through the chemotherapy credentialing process as part of orientation.

• Good IV skills and experience with CVAD management, cannulation and cytotoxic management preferred but not essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families
• A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
• Committed to providing a consistently high standard of patient care
• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
