Registered Nurse – Haematology Day Stay
- Ward B6, Waipapa Hospital, Christchurch
- 0.6FTE and 0.8FTE (24 and 32 hours a week), Permanent roles
- Shifts - Monday to Friday between 7:30am – 6pm

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the team in the Haematology Day Stay.
This fast-paced challenging
environment will offer you variety in your day.
You will be responsible for: looking after a cohort of patients with a haematological diagnosis having treatments including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, infusions of various blood products and supporting the patients with diagnostic treatments.
You will work rostered shifts between Monday and Friday,
start times 0730, 0830, and 0930.
About the Service
The Haematology
Day Unit specialises in the care and support of medical patients from a variety
of specialties, with approximately 50% being Haematology. While the unit is
primarily now an infusion centre we also provide pre and post care for some of
our patients who are having procedures.
About you
We are looking for nurses with great assessment skills, time management and communication.
Haematology or Oncology experience would be an advantage
however the successful candidate will be supported through the chemotherapy
credentialing process as part of orientation.
- Good IV skills and experience with CVAD management, cannulation and cytotoxic management preferred but not essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families
- A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
- Committed to providing a consistently high standard of patient care
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
