Registered Nurse - Medical Progressive Care Unit

About the Role
We’re seeking a Registered Nurse with strong communication and organisational skills, and a current Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Nursing Council.
Based in the Medical Progressive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital, this role involves delivering patient-centred care, including assessment, treatment, and support for patients and their whānau.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing patient admissions and discharges
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Upholding cultural safety and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
- Maintaining a safe environment through risk management and incident reporting
About the Team/Service
The Medical Progressive Care Unit is a 14-bed service caring for adult patients within General Medicine, often with complex or multi-system conditions. You’ll be supported by a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a strong focus on both clinical excellence and ongoing professional development.
About You
- 1+ years post-graduate experience
- You’ll thrive in a fast-paced acute environment, bringing strong assessment, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a team is essential, along with a flexible, solution-focused approach.
- You have a current Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Nursing Council.
