About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team who is passionate about patient centred care and is keen to advance their nursing skills and knowledge. 

We have a great team who operate in a very collegial, inclusive environment with the multidisciplinary team, which will help enhance your learning. No two days are the same when you work with a diverse patient group with complex presenting conditions.

Ward B8 is also a Dedicated Education Unit and we have a Progressive Care Unit which also provides an opportunity to expand your nursing and observation skills.

About the Service

Ward B8 is a busy, acute ward caring for patients with neurological conditions including; brain tumours, head injuries, spinal tumours, movement disorders and seizures. As the largest inpatient neuroscience facility in the South Island it is a busy medical and surgical environment caring for a complex patient group with a diverse range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions.

Our large multidisciplinary team are a skilled, passionate group of specialists focused on advancing care that will improve clinical outcomes for our patient group.

About you

We are looking for Registered Nurses with recent Neurosurgery/Neurology or Surgical experience. You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure within a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Neurosurgery and Neurology experience – preferred but not essential
  • 2+ years Surgical experience
  • Ability to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Committed to providing a consistently high standard of patient care
  • Sound assessment and decision-making skills
  • Work calmly under pressure
  • Excellent time management, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
