Registered Nurse - Ophthalmology Outpatients

between 7:30 am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, shifts will be within these
hours

About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join us
in Ophthalmology Outpatients on a fixed term contract.
The Eye Clinic is a very busy and demanding service that is
staffed by a dedicated team of Nurses, Orthoptists, Optometrists and
Technicians who work closely with our highly skilled and specialised
Ophthalmologists to meet the eye health needs of the people of Canterbury.
As a nurse in the eye clinic, you’ll be responsible for undertaking ophthalmic
assessment on a wide range of patients, with varying ophthalmic conditions,
both acute and chronic. You will help manage acutely unwell patients that
present from the community and the ward. You will perform a variety of
different scans and technical assessments on patients and assist nurses and
doctors with sterile procedures and assessments. You will be working alongside
a house officer to undertake preadmission assessments on patients requiring
surgery and provide the patient with education about the surgery and
post-operative needs.

Christchurch Outpatients works across four floors of our
purpose-built facility. We provide nursing support and care for up to thirty
different Specialities.
About you
- 1+ years experience in Ophthalmology
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with a strong patient focus.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
- Registered with the
Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising
Certificate (APC)
