Registered Nurse - Paediatric Surgical Ward
- 2 x Fixed-term positions available due to parental leave

About the Role
We have two opportunities for experienced paediatric RN’s to join us in our paediatric surgical ward.
Ward B7 is a 24 bedded ward providing care for children/young people up to 16 years of age who are undergoing a variety of elective and acute surgical procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Child Health team located in the Waipapa building which houses our state-of-the-art paediatric surgical facility, on the edge of the picturesque Hagley Park.
The two positions are fixed-term due to parental leave, please indicate in your personalised cover letter which role(s) you would like to be considered for.
Role 1: Fixed-term, 0.9FTE (36 hours per week) from 16th March 2026 – 16th March 2027.
Role 2: Fixed-term, 0.8FTE (32 hours per week) from 30th March 2026 – 30th March 2027.

About You
Join our service and you will be able to work in collaboration with a large multidisciplinary team to provide quality paediatric care in a busy ward environment.
To ensure best outcomes for our children it is preferable that you have recent child health experience, engage well with children and their families, are flexible, adaptable and have excellent communication skills.
If you are an interested and dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Child Health and the ability to work rostered rotating shifts and would like the opportunity to develop your paediatric surgical nursing skills then apply now!
Skills and Experience:
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
- Minimum of 1-year post-graduate nursing practice experience
- Child health and/or paediatric experience (preferred, but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children, whānau, and colleagues
- A strong, cohesive team‑player mindset, with a positive and adaptable approach
- Commitment to compassionate, culturally safe, patient‑centred care
