About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a variety of clinical settings, including theatre, recovery, and day ward. The Registered Nurse will work independently and collaboratively with other health professionals to assess health needs, provide care, and support patients in managing their health.

This role requires strong nursing judgment, clinical expertise, and the ability to coordinate and delegate tasks to Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and other team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive nursing assessments and ensuring best practice standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the role of scrub nurse
  • Undertake the role of circulating nurse
  • Undertakes role of endoscopy nurse
  • Undertakes role or recovery nurse
  • Patient assessment and the ability to escalate concerns if parameters outside that of usual
  • Collaborate with the wider team e.g. Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Anaesthetic Technicians and sterilisation technicians in the development of continuing patient care plans

About you

Essential Requirements:

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate (with no conditions affecting the ability to fulfil this role).
  • Minimum of two years' post-registration experience.
  • PDRP or willingness to work towards it.
  • Commitment to cultural competency training.
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Availability to work on-call as per the roster.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in theatre and recovery.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of high-quality patient care.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Motivation, a positive attitude, and a sense of humour.
  • Clinical competence and strong organisational abilities.
  • Multi-skilled and adaptable.
  • Interest in assisting with the development of the unit.
  • Experience in orthopaedics is an advantage.
