About the role

Burwood Hospital is a close-knit, friendly facility that forms part of Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha (Canterbury) situated near Burwood Forest on the outskirts of Christchurch Central. Along with 11 inpatient wards, we also have a busy Outpatients Department, 4 theatres with an Admitting Unit and PACU. Our Spinal Unit is one of two located in New Zealand and between the two busy units deliver a National Service.

We are looking for experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Burwood Hospital, based in ward CG - Neurological Adult Rehabilitation. 

Ward CG at Burwood is a Neurological Adult Rehabilitation Service with an interdisciplinary team approach working alongside patients who have suffered a neurological event such as stroke patients between the ages of 18-65 year olds. Based at Burwood Hospital you will work as part of the Older Persons Health Specialist Service providing vital care and rehabilitation to our communities most vulnerable.

You’ll have a strong rehabilitation focus, a desire to learn and an understanding of the social needs and backgrounds of patients and their families/Whanau. The units offer social rostering, however, flexibility is still required as you will be expected to be available for all shifts. Professional development is encouraged on the unit and supported by our Charge Nurse Managers. 

A good sense of humour, the ability to develop rapport with patients and colleagues, and exceptional team work will go a long way in this environment and ensure you assist patients overcome multi-faceted challenges.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
  • You should have a rehabilitation mindset and have an enthusiastic approach to your work.
