About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dietitian to join our Renal Service in a 0.4FTE, outpatient role, based at Christchurch Health Campus.
This position provides specialist nutrition and dietetic support to people living with chronic kidney disease across Waitaha, supporting patients at different stages of their renal journey through high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
In this role, you will provide outpatient renal nutrition and dietetic services, including comprehensive nutritional assessment, individualised dietary advice, and ongoing education.
Your clinical work will include supporting patients across:
- Haemodialysis
- Peritoneal dialysis
- Pre‑dialysis education and care
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including nephrologists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, patient‑centred care. There is also opportunity to contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the renal outpatient service.
About the Team
Our team of dynamic and motivated Dietitians based primarily at Christchurch Campus provides support to adult and paediatric patients across a range of clinical specialties including Critical Care, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, respiratory, neurology, general medical, surgical wards and outpatients.
We
currently have an exciting opportunity for an NZ Registered Dietitian with
current Annual Practicing Certificate to join our team! We are seeking an
enthusiastic, positive team player with a good clinical experience. Working as
part of a close-knit team, you will receive regular supervision and
opportunities for professional development and you will also be encouraged to
develop your skills and professional interests.
This is a part time permanent opportunity. The hours of the week will need to meet
service delivery requirements with rostered on-call weekend cover.
About You
You are a qualified and experienced Dietitian with a strong interest in renal outpatient care and delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based nutrition support. You work well within a multidisciplinary team and bring a collaborative, culturally responsive approach to patient‑centred care.
You will have:
- Relevant dietetic qualifications with NZ Registration and a current APC
- At least two years’ clinical dietetic experience
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to achieving equitable health outcomes
- Strong communication, time management, and clinical documentation skills
Experience in renal nutrition, chronic disease management, and contributing to service development or quality improvement is desirable.
