We have regular runs available in:
- General Surgery
- General Medicine
- Rural Hospital Medicine
We are accredited for Rural Hospital Medicine training, making this an excellent opportunity for RMO's considering a future career in rural or generalist medicine.
About the Team / Service / Location
Te Nikau Hospital is the main acute hospital for the West Coast region, delivering secondary-level services across a geographically diverse and remote population of approximately 32,500 people.
Our service is small, supportive, and highly collaborative, providing RMO's with excellent access to senior clinicians, theatre exposure, and practical procedural learning opportunities.
Our team culture is supportive, approachable, and genuinely collegial, with consultants who are invested in teaching and mentoring junior doctors.
Living and working on the West Coast offers an unmatched lifestyle – from rainforests and beaches to glaciers and mountains, this is a place where career growth and outdoor adventure go hand in hand.
