Play a key role in supporting safe staffing and quality healthcare delivery

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Roster Officer to join our Older Persons Health & Rehabilitation (OPH&R) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare by ensuring effective and responsive rostering for Nursing and Allied Health teams. 

About the Role

As a Roster Officer, you will support managers and team leaders with the coordination and maintenance of rosters across Nursing and Allied Health services. You will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with rostering policies, and help resolve day-to-day staffing and scheduling challenges.

This role is essential in ensuring staffing levels are aligned with service needs, supporting safe, efficient, and responsive care delivery. 

As part of the Administration Pay Equity Claim settlement these roles have been mapped to National Role Profile 3/Band 3

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist roster owners to build, maintain, and update staff rosters
  • Provide advice and support on rostering practices, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with organisational rostering strategies and guidelines
  • Support real-time roster changes and ongoing roster maintenance
  • Respond to phone and online enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot and resolve rostering issues in collaboration with HR Shared Services and other support teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve rostering processes and service delivery
  • Maintain accurate data entry and system updates
  • Deliver a high level of customer service with a proactive, solutions-focused approach 

About You

Essential:

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in a fast-paced administrative environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes
  • Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Minimum NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Experience in rostering or workforce coordination
  • Experience working in the health sector or a large, complex organisation
