About the Role 

We are looking for a Specialist ICU Pharmacist to join our team in a full time, fixed term role until 23^rd July 2027.

This is an exciting and varied opportunity to work within an experienced team who are all passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Canterbury community. The days and hours associated with this role are Monday – Friday covering standard business hours, but there may be some weekend/late night roster requirements.

This role involves working as a Specialist Pharmacist within the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital and sits within the Pharmacy surgical clinical team. As an ICU Specialist Pharmacist, you will work alongside skilled and supportive colleagues, providing specialist medicines advice and care for people with complex and critical health needs. This role offers the opportunity to grow your specialist practice, contribute to service improvements and help deliver exceptional patient care across the intensive care service and the pharmacy.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Provision of a team based full clinical pharmacy service including medication reconciliation, therapeutic drug monitoring and answering medicines information enquiries
• Involvement in interdisciplinary education
• Supervision, training and support of pharmacists, technicians, interns and students
• Participation in the on-call service
• Medication supply including dispensing, sterile production and cytotoxic ordering
  

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist, with a good work ethic, who enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to learn. Hospital experience is preferred but not mandatory.  If you are considering a switch to hospital and have a willingness to learn, you will find you are well supported with your transition.

To be successful in this role, your skills will include:

• Well-developed communication and time-management skills
• Excellent computer skills
• The ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team
• A flexible and motivated approach to your work
• You must be a qualified and NZ registered pharmacist
• At least 4 years post internship experience , with at least 2 years hospital experience
• Post-graduate clinical qualification and/or specialist clinical experience in current or previous roles, especially within this area of speciality, is preferable.
