Specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist
The Department of Anaesthesia based at Christchurch Hospital has a position for a Specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist. This is a permanent full-time position including participation in the out-of-hours on-call paediatric roster, and also includes general adult anaesthesia.
The Anaesthetic Department provides anaesthetic services in Christchurch for the Canterbury District Health Board. The CDHB services an immediate population of 350,000 and is a tertiary referral centre for the South Island of New Zealand.
Paediatric Services are provided for neonates onwards in the areas of general surgery, urology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology and orthopaedics. Dental, radiological and paediatric procedure sessions form part of the workload and the Department is integral in supporting the Children’s oncology unit. The CDHB has two inpatient paediatric wards and a tertiary level neonatal unit.
Applicants for the Specialist position must have a qualification recognised for vocational registration by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
