About the Role
We are looking for compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our Home and Community Support Services team (Coasters) on the West Coast.
In this rewarding role, you will support people in their own homes to live well, age well, and maintain independence within their community. You will work closely with Coordinators and Registered Nurses to provide safe, respectful and culturally appropriate care that enhances the dignity and wellbeing of the people we support.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, values meaningful connections, and wants to make a real difference in the lives of people in their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality support services under the direction of a registered health professional.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living while encouraging independence and participation.
- Follow individual care plans to ensure consistent and appropriate care.
- Report any changes in client wellbeing to the Coordinator or Nurse.
- Liaise with the Coordinator regarding rostering, availability, training and covering shifts.
- Deliver support that is culturally safe, respectful and maintains the dignity and mana of clients.
- Use mobile technology and systems to support documentation, communication and service delivery.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and scope of practice.
- Follow all organisational policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
About you
Essential
- Hold (or be willing to complete) Level 2 of the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, with progression to Level 3 and Level 4 supported by the service.
- Current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications or similar software.
- A caring, respectful approach and the ability to build positive relationships with clients.
Desirable
- Previous experience working as a caregiver or support worker in community, hospital, or aged care settings.
- An understanding of supporting people to maintain independence and wellbeing in their own homes.
