Support Worker | Greymouth

- Permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week

About the role
The Support Worker – Coasters plays an important role in supporting people to live well, age well, and experience a respectful end of life within their own communities. You will provide safe, high-quality, person-centred support that upholds dignity, mana, and independence.
Working closely with the Coordinator and Nurse, you will support clients in their day-to-day wellbeing, respond to changes in their needs, and deliver care in line with individual care plans and organisational standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide culturally safe, respectful, and dignified support that recognises clients as active participants in their care
- Support clients to maintain independence and functionality by encouraging participation in activities of daily living
- Work closely with the Coordinator and Nurse, reporting any changes in a client’s wellbeing
- Deliver care in line with individual care plans
- Provide safe, high-quality services under the direction of a registered health professional
- Follow all organisational policies and procedures
- Use technology to support administration and communication requirements
- Participate in training and skills development to work to full scope of practice
- Liaise with the Coordinator regarding rostering, sickness, training, and availability
- Undertake other duties within the scope of the role as agreed with your manager
Essential requirements
- Hold, or be willing to undertake, NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2), with an expectation to progress to Level 3 and consider Level 4 over time (with support and approval of the Clinical Lead)
- Current full driver’s licence
- Competent using Microsoft applications and similar software
Desired experience
- Previous experience as a caregiver or support worker in the community, hospital, or aged care setting
