Support Worker | Hokitika

- Permanent full time (40 hours per week) or part time (32 hours per week) – Please note It will be a mix of days, evenings and one weekend in two.

We are looking for compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our Coasters Home & Community Support Services team. This rewarding role supports clients to maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life—enabling them to live well and, where appropriate, experience a respectful end of life in their own homes and communities.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will work closely with Coordinators and Nurses to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in the community. You will support clients with their day-to-day needs, encouraging independence and participation, while ensuring care is delivered safely, respectfully, and in line with individual care plan.
This role will be working across a roster including weekends and evening shifts. There is some flexibility regarding start times.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality care under the direction of a registered health professional
- Support clients with activities of daily living while promoting independence and wellbeing
- Follow and contribute to individual care plans
- Observe, report, and communicate any changes in client wellbeing
- Liaise with Coordinators regarding rostering, availability, and service needs
- Deliver culturally safe care that upholds the dignity and mana of each client
- Use technology to support communication and documentation requirements
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development
- Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements
About You
Essential:
- Hold (or be willing to complete) the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2), with progression to Levels 3 and 4
- Current full driver’s licence
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications
- Strong communication skills and a caring, respectful approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience in caregiving within community, hospital, or aged care settings
