About the Role
As a transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing dictated medical correspondence, ensuring accuracy and efficiency while meeting set timeframes. You will work closely with service leaders, clinicians, and administrative teams to support the smooth operation of transcription.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 3/Profile 3B

Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical letters and ensure completion within set timeframes
- Process and distribute outgoing correspondence within one workday of clinician sign-off
- Accurately enter data into the patient management system in a timely manner
- Respond to enquiries from staff, external agencies, GPs, and patients promptly
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Uphold confidentiality and professional communication at all times
About you
Essential:
- Excellent customer service skills with a people-focused approach
- Typing speed of 50-70 words per minute with strong keyboard proficiency
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and applications
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Team player with a proactive attitude
Desired:
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience in health administration or a similar role
- Familiarity with the public hospital system and patient management systems
- Awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds and sensitivity to different needs
