Allied Health Assistant / Support Worker - Mental Health | Hillmorton Hospital

About the Role
Your main purpose is to enhance the independence of consumers who are disabled by mental illness by providing assistance in areas of daily living, management and socialisation within the community. Work will be managed in consultation with Case Managers (Multi-Disciplinary members of Clinical Team) to support the clinical and rehabilitation goals within the consumers treatment plan.
The North Adult Community Psychiatric Service at Hillmorton in the Specialty Mental Health Service provides specialist assessment and treatment to people (aged 18-65) whose everyday life is significantly affected by a mental disorder. The Service has a multi-disciplinary mental health team comprised of Psychiatric Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Social Workers and Psychologists, Registrar, and administration staff.
To be successful in this role you will have;
- A current clean drivers license - preferably able to drive both manual and automatic
- Certificate in Mental Health studies, or other training in Mental Health
- Experience in Community Mental Health delivery

- Commitment to Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural practice
- Ability to work within the context of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to engage in a therapeutic relationship with, and advocate for consumers
