About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Allied Health (AH) clinician to take on a pivotal leadership role within Critical Care (CC). This is an opportunity for a respected, relationship‑focused professional to influence service development, elevate AH visibility, and drive high‑quality interdisciplinary care within the ICU. You will require clinical experience in Critical Care, have strong credibility and confidence to advocate for AH, and can champion the value of each profession in patient care and clinical outcomes.

Purpose of the Role:

As the Allied Health Coordinator for Critical Care, you will be the central point of contact for AH‑related communication across the ICU. You’ll provide strategic oversight, strengthen interprofessional relationships, and ensure AH perspectives are represented at every level of decision‑making.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, values cultural responsiveness, and is passionate about advocating for the diverse contributions of AH professions.

The role will;

  • Report to the Line manager of their profession operationally and work with clinical managers/leaders of each profession
  • Work across professions to advocate and support Allied Health Critical Care staff
  • Represent smaller AH professions in Critical are to ensure each profession has a voice
  • Lead and coordinate AH quality improvement initiatives and contribute to outcome planning
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication channels
  • Provide coordination and daily support for Allied Health Assistants (AHAs)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for AH and AHA queries within Critical Care
  • Drive cultural change and foster a cohesive, collaborative AH identity
  • Coordinate the AH Critical Care forum to strengthen interprofessional collaboration and promote an interdisciplinary team (IDT) approach.
  • Coordinate case studies, peer reviews, debriefs, and support the development of a team charter.

About You

Essential:

  • NZ registered with a current APC
  • Participation in Profession Specific Continuing Competency programme
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Proven clinical leadership abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current experience in critical care

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A relevant post graduate certificate or Diploma or Degree
  • 5 years or more of relevant clinical experience in critical care medicine
