About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse/Early Intervention/Social Worker with an interest in autism to join the Paediatric Outpatients department as an Autism Coordinator.

We are looking for someone who is committed and passionate to succeed and will be a positive role model, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.  You will need to ensure high standards of care and improved patient outcomes are attained for children with autism and their whanau. 

As an Autism Coordinator you will work as part of a team to ensure that the whanau of a child diagnosed with autism will receive information, support and referrals to services as appropriate.  You will follow the expected standards for the Neurodevelopment Service to achieve this.

We are flexible with hours up to 0.9FTE (36 hours) per week. Please indicate in your personalised cover letter, what FTE you are looking for.

About You

Excellent organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, the ability to communicate and work alongside a wide range of people at both professional and personal level; and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team are imperative to this role.

To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge and clinical experience with Tamariki with an autism diagnosis. Your personal skills will include being self-motivated and reliable with working independently. You will have the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-faceted team. You will be able to prioritise your workloads daily. You will possess critical-thinking skills to be able to undertake whanau assessment and support plans.
