Clinical Nurse Specialist – Paediatric Outpatients

About the Role
An exciting
opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse with an
interest and specialist knowledge in child development, autism and disability
to join our department as our Neurodevelopmental Clinical Nurse Specialist
within our Paediatric Medicine, Developmental service, working alongside
paediatricians and coordinators.
This Role requires you to work across the service within a clinical specialty role, acting in the roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent and care coordinator/case manager in the pursuit of clinical excellence and improved health outcomes for our complex and vulnerable client base.
This is a chance
for someone to step up into a senior Nursing role and become the shared
clinical nursing lead for this area by supporting, mentoring, liaising and
acting as a resource person for tamariki, whanau and health professionals in
directing and leading care to improve health outcomes for these tamariki and
rangatahi.
About you
We are looking for someone who is an experienced practitioner with expertise working with tamariki and rangatahi either in a hospital or community environment. Someone who has a good understanding of all our services, both health and disability as well as community supports would be an advantage. We would like someone who is committed and passionate to succeed and who, as a positive role model will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and improved patient health outcomes are attained. A proven leadership ability and solution focused approach, with the ability to provide information, mentoring, education and practical support to the team, is paramount to success in this role.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of people and your ability to lead from the front is paramount in this role.
- Your communication skills will be key as you assess children for review of medications, gathering information, providing a plan of care, while liaising with the paediatrician and the wider team.
- Your expert time management skills will see you facilitate timely referrals to services for appropriate supports maximizing the benefits to child and family.
- Hold current New Zealand Driving licence as this role requires visits to services and whanau in the community as well as hospital.
- You will currently hold or be working towards a relevant Post Graduate qualification.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
