Clinical Psychologist - Perinatal Mental Health Service

About the Role

As a Clinical Psychologist you will work in a small, focused, committed multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and undertake assessments of adults with a wide range of clinical issues. Your tangata whaiora will be in the second trimester of their pregnancy or have a pepi upto the age of 12 months. You will have your own caseload which you will manage and provide psychological treatments to with the support of the MDT. As the hub of a regional service there will be opportunities to provide liaison and support to clinicians throughout Te Waipounamu. In addition to your own caseload, you will provide therapy for some tangata whaiora when they need psychological input.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team is small, with 5.4 FTE case managers. It is made up of psychologists, nurses and social workers backed up by medical officers and pukenga atawhai, with access to physiotherapy and dieticians.. We provide outpatient mental health treatment to tangata whaiora in Waitaha Canterbury, and consult liaison and support to clinicians throughout  Te Waipounamu. Our model of care is integrated between our community team and our inpatient team. There will be opportunities for professional development and ongoing role development.

About you

• As a Clinical Psychologist with New Zealand registration, you will hold a current Annual Practising Certificate with no conditions on practise that may prevent your ability to fulfil requirements of the role.
• You will have skills in establishing, maintaining and terminating therapeutic relationships.
• You will be conversant in a wide range of psychological therapies and have a proven track record in applying these.
• You will demonstrate high standards in terms of personal competence and professional practice.
• You will have a sound awareness of appropriate clinical boundaries and be able to work with the needs of the pepi front and centre of your work.
