Nurse Educator – General Medicine and Respiratory Services

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

About the Role

The Nurse Educator facilitates and coordinates clinical learning activities and nursing professional development programs. They provide systematic guidance to reduce the gap between nursing theory and practice and are key to improving the quality of nursing care and enhancing the patients' level of satisfaction.

You will provide nursing leadership and act as a resource for both new and experienced staff. Clinical coaching and point of care learning will be an emphasis of the role, as will ensuring robust learning plans are in place. Your skills will include those of facilitator, change agent, consultant and leader. You will have an important role supporting nursing practice and consolidating the model of care.

Your broad knowledge and extensive experience will place you perfectly as an educational resource for the team. This will allow you to coach and support the clinical learning of the nursing team while promoting evidence-based practice. You will be supported through close collaboration with the Nursing Director and Senior Nursing team within General Medicine and Respiratory, the wider cluster and throughout the organisation. This Nurse Educator role includes developing and strengthening current education resources and delivery of programs, as well as supporting individual learning plans.

About the Service

General Medicine is a large service and you will work alongside other Nurse Educators and support 1-2 inpatient ward areas. Ward 19 is a 22-bed unit providing inpatient care for people with a range of respiratory conditions. There’s a lot of variety across these areas and Nurses are encouraged and supported in their professional development by the Nurse Educator.

About You

You will be someone who has a passion for adult education, has some exposure in this area such as, but not limited to: preceptorship, mentoring, in-services or classroom based teaching experience.

You will be self-directed with great initiative, have excellent time management and organisational skills.

Continuing the development of widespread competence in the nursing team is essential, and it requires a strategic planned approach to be successful. This role facilitates the progression of current education resources, as well as the development of future strategic growth.
