About the Role

We have exciting opportunity for an experienced Neonatal Registered Nurse to join the team as a Neonatal Nurse Educator providing neonatal nursing education programmes and initiatives from novice through to expert. These programmes and initiatives should reflect the current philosophy of the neonatal service and the articles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi.

You will be responsible for facilitating ongoing education, acting as a resource person, and providing professional and educational support alongside the Neonatal CNS .

About the Service

The Neonatal Service at Christchurch Women’s Hospital is a busy acute service providing secondary/tertiary care to new-born babies born prematurely or with surgical, congenital and medical complications following birth. We are currently resourced as a 44 bedded unit compromised of 12 intensive care and 32 special care cot’s with our catchment area covering approximately 20,000 square kilometres of the South Island.

About You

If you have exceptional Neonatal experience and knowledge which you enjoy sharing with others and appreciate working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary service, then we want to hear from you. 

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Minimum of 5 years validated and extensive clinical expertise in neonatal nursing.
  • Hold a relevant post graduate qualification in neonatal nursing.
  • Hold or working towards a qualification in adult or clinical teaching.
  • Demonstrated teaching/ mentoring/ coaching skills.
  • Proven ability to support nursing staff at all levels of practice.
  • Acknowledged leader within the neonatal speciality.
  • Provides advanced leadership within nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the professional development of nursing throughout the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop appropriate nursing standards and quality initiatives.
  • Can work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well with staff and families.
  • A passion to engage with and provide holistic care for infants and their families.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
