Registered Nurse – Haematology Research Infusion

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Haematology Clinical Trials team. We are looking for a nurse with haematology or oncology knowledge and experience. Previous clinical trial experience is desirable however, this is not essential if you are enthusiastic about learning new skills and developing your knowledge in clinical research.
As part of the Haematology Clinical Trials team, you will be responsible for the safe administration of clinical trial investigational products, while providing expert nursing care, support and education to patients participating in research studies. You will work closely with Haematology Study Coordinators to undertake and document patient-related study assessments, including medication administration, vital signs, study blood collection and other assessments required by individual study protocols.
A key focus of the role is ensuring the safety, wellbeing and rights of study participants are protected throughout their involvement in clinical trials. You will provide high-quality supportive care and education during treatment delivery and observation, while working within the requirements of each clinical trial protocol.
The role also includes administrative responsibilities and will work closely alongside the Haematology Research team, based in the Manawa building. Patient treatment visits are undertaken in either the Haematology Day Ward or Haematology Outpatient area.
This is a 1.0 FTE permanent position and provides
an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical research knowledge and
contribute to innovative care within Haematology.
About the Service
The primary objective of the Haematology Clinical
Trials programme is to conduct high-quality research in accordance with ICH-GCP
guidelines and individual study protocols. Through participation in
well-designed clinical trials, we aim to contribute to improving the standards
of care available to our patients and provide access to innovative treatments
that may not otherwise be available in New Zealand.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive nursing knowledge and clinical experience, preferably within haematology or oncology.
- Confidence and competence in administering intravenous infusions and providing patient education, including chemotherapy education.
- A strong commitment to providing safe, patient-centred care.
- Computer skills and data interpretation knowledge to complete accurate data collection for university-based studies and haematology registries.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary and research-focused team.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Strong critical-thinking and clinical assessment skills, with the ability to develop and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- A willingness to learn and develop your knowledge of clinical research and clinical trial processes.
- Previous clinical trial or research experience is desirable but not essential.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New
