Registered Nurse – Transplant Nephrology Clinic
- Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch
- 0.4FTE (16 hours a week) Fixed Term till May 2026 due to Parental Leave
- Monday to Friday, Morning shift – 7:30am – 4pm (Days to be discussed at interview stage)

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity within the specialty of Nephrology - to extend skills, develop pathways, provide patient education and improve documentation.
This role includes:
- Assisting with transplant and nephrology outpatient clinics
- Wound care, patient education, co-ordinating and assisting procedures (renal biopsies & tunnel line removals)
- Outpatient infusions and blood tests, PICC bloods and care, nephrostomy tube or other drain removal
- District nurse referrals and communication
- Removal of sutures/staples, urinary catheters (insertion and trial of voids), supporting patients and the nephrology team
- Reviewing nursing and patient documentation and updating, creating pathways to help improve the patient journey.
About the Service
The Nephrology Service is
attached to the Dialysis Service who provides care to patients across
Canterbury and the West Coast through the acute inpatient unit and home based
haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis programme.
The Nephrology Service assists with the renal transplant clinic that is
supported by a multidisciplinary team.
About you
We are looking for a Registered
Nurse who has great initiative, critical thinking, the ability to work
independently, strong communication, clinical assessment, and problem-solving
skills.
Do you enjoy patient advocacy and want to improve the patient journey,
including liaising with a multidisciplinary team and helping strengthen
communication and support?
Ideally you will come with the below skills and experience;
- Experience in nephrology, wound care including NPWT, venepuncture and cannulation, CVAD certified, male catheterisation competent, CAPD certified
- Enthusiastic, motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide variety of people, is paramount in this role.
- Registered with the
Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising
Certificate (APC)
