Senior Management Accountant-Fixed Term 12 Months

Our Finance Business Partnering teams, support hospital and community delivered services, across Canterbury Waitaha and West Coast Te Tai o Poutini. We support the effective budgeting, funding, development, procurement, and delivery of health and disability services. Every day we ensure financial strength and accountability is maintained by designing, carrying out and monitoring clear financial processes and practices. The Senior Management Accountant is part of the Canterbury team and provides valued financial support in our Finance Business Partnering Team.
Key responsibilities in this role are:
- Supporting the Finance Business Partnering approach by aligning with the Finance and Corporate Service strategy.
- Coordinating and preparing the operational and capital budgets and forecasts.
- Supporting and training Service Leaders to take accountability for their budgets and increase their financial knowledge.
- Advise Service Leaders regarding finance and business-related issues.
- Develop and review reports and provide financial information to Service Leaders, Managers and other Stakeholders.
- Coaching and mentoring other Management Accountants and members of the team.
About you
You should be a strong communicator who can confidently challenge scenarios based on sound reasoning and information. You have strong technical skills, are comfortable with the analysis of large data sets and discussing financial information across our health New Zealand Teams.
We are not necessarily looking for the traditional accountant, this role would suit dynamic and ambitious candidates who want the opportunity to grow and develop in an operationally focused environment, providing our front line clinical and business partners with added value, which flows on to benefits for the patients in our health system.

Skills and experience
Your skills and experience will include:
- Professionally qualified as a CA or equivalent is preferred.
- Tertiary accounting qualification is essential.
- Forecasting, budgeting and financial performance monitoring experience.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Analytical and communication skills.
- Experienced user of accounting systems.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to uphold, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
