Social Worker - Community/Inpatient Unit

About the role
The South Island Eating Disorders Service based at Hillmorton Hospital provides inpatient and community treatment for people experiencing an eating disorder. Education, liaison, and consultation are also provided for mental health services and primary health services around the South Island. We are a small but experienced multidisciplinary team who are passionate about ensuring the best health outcomes for service users.
We’re looking for a New Zealand Registered Social Worker with current Annual Practicing Certificate to join us on a Permanent part-time basis (30 hours per week). How these hours are arranged is to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
About you
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Informing and supporting consumers, family/whanau and significant others concerning their rights and assists their access to areas within the service and external services where appropriate.
- Incorporating consumers, family/whanau and significant others personal experiences and world view into the development of treatment plans, interventions, transition and discharge planning, ensuring their involvement with the treatment team at all stages.
- Providing case management and psychological treatments to clients using evidence based therapeutic models of care.
- Developing a formulation based on a comprehensive assessment including risk assessment for a range of clinical risks and making appropriate referrals in relation to these and generating treatment options and plans based on MDT consultation and assessment.
- Case managing your own consumer caseload, and providing care and treatment to them and their whanau.
- Liaising and consulting with external agencies such as NGOs and other medical professionals within the Eating Disorders Service and the wider SMHS.
Your skills will include:
- 2 years post registration experience in a mental health
setting.
- Registration with the New Zealand Social Work Board and Annual Practicing Certificate is essential.
- Knowledge of and ability to use evidence based treatment model of care, or a willingness to upskill and train in one or more of these.
